Your references,
everywhere you work.
A reference board that follows you. Images, GIFs, notes and folders, arranged the way you think, on iPhone, iPad, Windows, macOS and the web, with a Chrome extension to save references as you browse.
Everything you need, nothing you don’t.
Built for artists who need their references wherever they create.
Images & GIFs
Import and organize your reference images and animated GIFs with ease.
Notes & annotations
Add notes and annotations to keep track of important details and ideas.
Automatic organization
Smart organization keeps your references in order without manual work.
Folders & collections
Create folders and collections to organize projects and reference sets.
Cloud sync
Sync your references across all your devices seamlessly. Part of Sync.
Fast & responsive
Optimized performance keeps things smooth even with large libraries.
Chrome extension
Save references from the web straight to your boards with the DarkRef extension for Chrome.
Your references shouldn’t be trapped on one machine, in one place, on one side of the room.
Why we built DarkRefMade for the way artists actually work.
Truly cross-platform
Work on your iPad at the coffee shop, continue on your Windows desktop at home, finish on your MacBook. DarkRef is the reference board that actually follows you between devices.
Built for artists
Drag and drop, every common image format, animated GIF support, and quick notes. Every decision is made for people arranging references, not for a feature list.
Free where it counts
All the core organization is free forever on every platform. Only the cloud features, like sync and live boards, need Sync, and it stays inexpensive.
Free to use. Pay only for the cloud.
